Join the show - performers wanted    

Our favourite community Christmas event is back this year, and we want you on stage! Singers, dancers, bands, cultural groups...if you can wow a crowd, we want to hear from you. Expressions of interest are open and close midnight, Friday 31 October.

Ostrich Farm sports fields    

The Flat Bush community is one step closer to a vibrant new green space. A $1.1 million boost from Auckland Council’s Fix and Finish Fund is helping move plans forward to transform Ostrich Farm into a fully equipped sports field park. 

Eastern Busway project update    

This September update covers lane reductions on Pakūranga Road ahead of Rā Hihi’s opening, bridge works on Taupaepae and Tī Rākau, the start of two new bus stations, and more construction updates.

Edgewater College butterfly garden    

 Edgewater College is giving a big shoutout to the Howick Local Board for backing their student-led Butterfly Garden/Te Māra Pūrerehua: a gift from the 2025 Year 13 students, a space for learning, biodiversity, and living manaakitanga and kaitiakitanga.

Auckland Climate Grant: Strategic    

    applications close 30 september    

 This climate grant is a targeted grant programme to support community-based climate action, with grants of up to $50,000 available. Find out more here.

The fun is almost here    

 Barry Curtis Park, Flat Bush: upgrades are nearly complete. Toilets are open, the rest -pavilion, Wetlands Building and destination playground, will open in time for Summer '25. A bit delayed by weather, but worth the wait!

    Auckland Heritage Festival    

Celebrate our city’s stories, spirit, and play with a line-up of free and low-cost events from 20 Sep-5 Oct, including the Howick Heritage Walk, a ranger-guided walk at Mangemangeroa Valley, butter making at Howick Historical Village, and more.

Temporary Flat Bush library

After nearly 20 years, Flat Bush is finally getting a library. Opening early 2026 at Ormiston Town Centre, the temporary space will offer access to 3.4 million+ items, computers, printing, and community activities.

Highland Park Library works    

Highland Park Library upgrades have commenced: adding toilets, shade, and safer landscaping. The library stays open with minimal disruption.Some carparks close temporarily; portable toilets available. Work finishes late October 2025.

Revamping Ti Rākau Park facilities    

    27R William Roberts Road, Pakūranga

     Ti Rākau Park is getting a makeover!

The old building is being replaced with brand-new prefabricated changing rooms and toilets, ready by the end of 2025. A modern, functional space for all to enjoy.
